“The world will not come to pass until a man from among the People of my House, whose name shall be my name, shall rule Arabs.“- Tirmidhi Sahih, Abu Dawud, Sahih
“The Prophet said: “The Hour shall not rise until a man from the People of my House [the concept of royal family] shall rule by kingdom (yamluk), named after me, his father named after mine, and fill the earth with justice and equity just as it had been filled with oppression and injustice.” – Narrated from Ibn Mas`ud by Abu Dawud
“The Arabs conquered the world in order to civilize it and for that vision they sacrificed their lives… They spread their rule from the Chinese Wall to the Atlantic Ocean and from the center of Europe to the center of Africa… One caliph, one law, one official language.“ — Zaki Al-Arsuzi’s view on the necessity of Arabism
“I have sacrificed everything, abdicated from the throne, and left my homeland for peace and to prevent bloodshed. I have come to Aqaba to prove to the world that my only ambition is to serve my people and free my nation.” – Sharif Hussein bin Ali
“I love my people, my nation and my religion more than all that is in this existence. We are fighting for two noble causes: safeguarding religion and Arabs’ public liberty” – Sharif Hussein bin Ali
“If you understand the essence of your religion and study the history of your ancestors and the literature of your language, you will find a beacon that will guide you to happiness here and beyond, thus rejuvenating your rich history.”- Sharif Hussein bin Ali
“Despite Al Hussein’s pride in his Arab heritage and noble lineage, and despite his love for liberty and righteous, fair rule, he was committed to the Caliphate, out of a belief that the Ottoman state was the only Islamic state with the power and geographic and material capabilities to defend Arab land in the face of European greed and incursion” – Suleiman Al Mousa
“I have always said that I am one of the people of this Ummah, believing in what they believe is right, rejecting what they reject as wrong and extending my hand to all who agree to turn to the book of Allah and the Sunna of his Messenger.” – Sharif Hussein bin Ali, Ceremony to pledge allegiance to Sharif Hussein as King
“Sharif Hussein’s goal was also to form a united Arab state. Is that vision lost forever? I believe that the Arab world is never going to be a united nation, as had been hoped in the Arab Revolt, but something in a more modern context, similar to Europe. It is the only way. We have developed within each part of the Arab world our own identities, and unity in the future must be a unity of sovereign equals.” – HM King Hussein of Jordan
“Take the so-called fundamentalists, for example. They want to consider the Prophet a messenger who delivered the message, and that’s that. Their main challenge is to destroy everything that came down through the Prophet and the Prophet’s descendants. That has been their drive ever since the outset; to destroy the links of Muslims with their history. They take a very extreme attitude at the universities they sponsor, influencing the students they produce. It has produced extremism, limited mindsets and a very clear lack of vision, far from the true teachings of Islam which make it unique. Islam is suitable for every time and for every people.” – HM King Hussein of Jordan
“We have developed within each part of the Arab world our own identities, and unity in the future must be a unity of sovereign equals… Hashemites have a duty to supranational service but not in the sense of acquiring control. Nor do I seek it. I think that those who have sought that kind of control have brought enough damage to the Arab world. I believe that the Arab people themselves can decide what they want…(the Arab community) is fragmented, no doubt about that. It is fragmented by religious belief and along nationalistic lines. But we are all Arabs, and we have the same language, so there is much that unites us. We must concentrate more on repairing relations between peoples than relations between leaders and governments.” – HM King Hussein of Jordan
“Unfortunately, teaching and learning in the Muslim world have declined as a result of political changes. Al-Azhar in Egypt used to be the pinnacle of reference to Muslims, at least for Sunnis, but since the Egyptian revolution there has been an erosion. Now there is an attempt to revive it, which I hope succeeds. Similarly, Najaf and Karbala, for the Shi’ites, should be centers of learning and light. But, unfortunately, changes in Iraq have caused so much persecution, so many human losses, that the hub has moved to Qom in Iran. These two centers have to return to what they were…Najaf is the heart of Shi’ism. Qom represents the heart of a political ideology. Since Shi’ite theologians cannot live and study in Najaf, Qom has taken a more important position.” – HM King Hussein of Jordan
“I would never think that I had it in me to be an Islamic model. But I have seriously thought time and again of quitting everything I’m doing to concentrate on theology.” – HM King Hussein of Jordan
“They (Daesh) are trying to invent falsely a linkage to a caliphate, a link to our history in Islam that has no truth or bearing to our history.” – His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan

The Sharifian Caliphate & the Al-Hashimi Dynasty of Mecca
Malik al-Bilad al-‘Arabiyya Amir al-Mumenin Al Munquiz Al A’zam H.M. Hussein ibn ‘Ali, Caliph al-Islam, King of the Hijaz, Commander of the Faithful, Grand Sharif and Amir of Mecca, GCB (c 11.3.1920). Appointed by the Sultan of Turkey as Grand Sharif and Amir of Mecca 1st November 1908. Proclaimed the Arab Revolt at Mecca, Taif, Jeddah and other towns 10th June 1916. Proclaimed the independence of the Arabs 29th October 1916. Proclaimed at the Holy Mosque, Mecca as Malik al-Bilad al-’Arabiyya and Amir al-Mumenin (King of the Arabs and Commander of the Faithful) and assumed the style of His Majesty, 2nd November 1916. Founded the Orders of the Renaissance in 1917 and Independence in 1921. Proclaimed as Caliph al-Islam, 7th March 1924. Abdicated the temporal crown in favor of his eldest son, 3rd October 1924
The Sharifian Caliphate is the term used to describe the establishment at the beginning of the 20th century of an Arab caliphate headed by the Al-Hashimi Dynasty of Mecca after the demise of the Ottoman Empire. The idea had been floating around since at least the 15th century. It started to gain importance towards the end of the 19th century due to the decline of the Ottoman Empire, which was heavily defeated in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878.
The Ottoman Empire was abolished on 1 November 1922, in the midst of the Turkish War of Independence. However, the office of caliph was retained for an additional 16 months, during which it was held by Abdülmecid II. The latter served as caliph under the patronage of the newly founded Turkish Republic until 3rd March 1924, when the Grand National Assembly of Turkey formally abolished the caliphate. The caliphate was subsequently claimed by H.M. Sharif Hussein ibn ‘Ali of the Al-Hashimi Dynasty in Mecca. Regarding the Al-Hashimi Dynasty of Mecca Christopher Buyers of RoyalArk.net writes:
“The Hashimite dynasty is one of the oldest Muslim dynasties on earth. They were founded by Hashim, grandfather of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and grandson of Qusai, King of Mecca. Ancestor of the Sharifs of Tabaristan, the Sultans and Kings of Morocco, the Hamudites of Spain, Idrisids of Fez, Libya and Asir, and many other realms. They are also the descendants of the Prophet, through his daughter Fatima and her husband, ‘Ali, the fourth Caliph and first Imam. Their elder son, Hasan, the fifth Caliph and second Imam, being the ancestor of the Sharifan family. Sharif Qutada Abu Aziz, seventeenth in descent from ‘Ali, successfully conquered Mecca in 1201. Although the accepted Mamluk and later Turkish suzerainty in 1517, Qutada’s descendants continued to hold the office of Guardian of the Holy places for eight hundred years. During the Great War in 1916, the then Grand Sharif Hussein ibn ‘Ali proclaimed the independence of the Arabs. Although he initially assumed the leadership of all the Arabs, the lack of allied recognition and opposition from Imam Yahya of Yemen and Ibn Saud of Najd resulted in his recognition as King of Hijaz alone. Armed conflict with the Saudis continued after the conclusion of the Great War, eventually forcing Hussein to give up his throne in favour of his eldest son, ‘Ali. King ‘Ali, experienced no greater success against Ibn Saud and was himself forced to evacuate Mecca and Medina in 1925, to avoid bloodshed and profanation of the Holy cities. His younger brothers, ‘Abdu’llah and Faisal, had become Amir of Transjordan (later King of Jordan) and King of Iraq, respectively.”

Family Tree of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
View of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani qadasAllahu sirrahul ‘aziz
Like the great Sufi GrandShaykhs of the past, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani qadasAllahu sirrahul ‘aziz endorsed monarchism in general and hence supported both the Ottoman monarchy as well as the Sharifian and others throughout his life. However, on April 8th 2012, he received a delegation from the Hashemite family of Jordan and it was on this day, Mawlana officially declared unconditional allegiance and support to the restoration of an Arab Caliphate as envisioned by Sharif Hussein after the demise of the Ottoman Empire. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani identified His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan as only the current legal heir to the titles of Sharif Hussein and called upon the delegation to convey to His Majesty his message, calling on the King to raise the Hashemite banner and to restore the Sharifian Caliphate of the Al-Hashimi Dynasty. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Qubrusi offered to pledge an oath of allegiance to the Hashemite king and called on all Arabs and Muslims to unite with the Hashemites.
Possible Foresight & Wisdom Behind Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s April 2012 Hashemite Proclamation
Mawlana GrandShaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani qadasAllahu sirraul ‘Aziz’s patrilineal family tree tracing his illustrious lineage back to the founder of Tariqah Sufism Sultan ul-Awliya Ghawth al-Adham Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani radiAllahu ‘anhu over twenty-four generations
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s proclamation came about as a response to the Arab Uprisings and global terrorist organizations who are falsely claiming the historic office of the orthodox caliphate to themselves. These terrorist groups exploit the legitimate aspirations and religious sentiments of so many people around the world and have literally destroyed so many lives. Their evil propaganda has radicalized thousands of people around the world and is a nightmare for all governments.
By suggesting the restoration of the Arab Hashemite caliphate it seems Shaykh Nazim hoped for the Arab and Muslim world to subsequently regain their past unity.
He saw the Arab Hashemite dynasty for what it factually is: the last unanimously accepted caliphate of the Arab and Islamic world which came about by the collective will of the Arab people, and the blood of thousands of Arab martyrs during The Great Arab Revolt against the Young Turk dominated declining Ottoman Empire.
It seems Mawlana Shaykh Nazim also sought to forever invalidate all false and pretentious claims to the authority to declare jihad by global terrorist organizations who have literally turned the world upside down with their terroristic chaos.
Permanent Solution to Radicalization & Jihadism
By inviting the Arab world to officially reclaim the office of the last Arab caliphate in history with a renewed cooperation and consent of the Arab and Muslim world, Shaykh Nazim envisioned a permanent solution to radicalization, terrorism and jihadism: an official reclaiming by the Arabs through the office of the caliphate to the legitimate right to proclaim jihad, holy war, and call for martyrs in the name of Islam with a legitimate promise of reward and paradise.
In Retrospect
In retrospect, given the current threats directed at the Grand Mosque Masjid al-Haraam in Makkah and to the Holy Ka’aba itself by the terrorist Houthi rebels and Daesh (ISIS), the recent terrorist attack directed towards the Holy Prophet’s Grand Mosque Haram al-Sharif Masjid an-Nabawi in al-Madinah, in addition to the threats by non-Muslim terrorists in Jerusalem seeking to destroy the entire compound of Haram al-Sharif Masjid Al-Aqsa, perhaps Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s foresight was of relevant immense importance to the future survival of the religion of Islam itself, and the protection of the three holiest mosques in the world.

Empowering Arabs with Sovereign Unity
It can be argued, Shaykh Nazim’s Hashemite Proclamation if limited to only religious authority i.e. the spiritual office of the caliphate like the Papacy and not unilateral political authority outside its own existing borders, in cooperation with Arab unity with a unity of sovereign equals, in fact sought to empower and unify the Arab world in a way not seen in nearly seven centuries since the fall of the Abbasid Empire.
The Hashemite Proclamation of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Qubrusi
On April 8th 2012, in an unprecedented proclamation Mawlana Shaykh Nazim invited the Arab world to restore their Hashemite caliphate, citing it as the only avenue to their safety and unity.
Key parts of this historic message include:
“…who has the right to carry the banner of the Caliphate, only a descendant of the Prophet (saws)…O scholars listen! I want from you a fatwa-legal opinion, about what we should do?…I want that we take a Caliph (monarch) from Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet (saws) who is living now..And now the right for Caliphate & the Sultanate is for His Majesty King Abdullah. His name is Abdullah, Allah (swt) has dressed him with a dress of such glory that everything else becomes as nothing in front in front of it. May Allah (swt) support him. And now O scholars I am asking from you to support him… to support him now. He is now waiting for you to grant your support to him. And now O scholars you have seen or you have heard how far they have gone, the enemies of Islam & the Muslims in the land of Sham…Sham is empty. I want the scholars to give a fatwa- legal opinion from East to West: that the most deserving and the one with the right to carry the Muslim Caliphate from Rasulullah (saws) is King Abdullah from Amman/Jordan. May Allah support him. Support him. If you do not support him Allah’s (swt) Wrath will come upon you till you perish.” – al-Sayyid al-Sharif Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Qubrusi, April 8th 2012. “Honour your Prophet (saws) and his descendants & those related to the Prophet (saws), Ahl Al Bait. I want this answer from the Arab world. Who from the nation of the Prophet (saws) is suitable to be honoured and respected & to have honour bestowed on him? That’s it! Descendants, children of the Prophet (S) in the land…the land of Jordan. Their line is noble…Honour them & Allah will honour you…There is no victory except with them. With them you will be victorious. With them you will be provided for, with them you will be honoured…You must honour him (saws) because the beginning is with him (saws) & the end of religion is with them. It ends with them also. The first banner, the banner of the Prophet (saws), was raised and then they changed, and changed it, and now the banner of the Prophet (saws) must be raised so Allah (swt) may put in the hearts of the unbelievers the fear of Islam, the glory of Islam…We have power. Power… Finished! Masha Allah! The time has come. I have declared what I was told. And now, you know best O Arabs, honour the most noble of people, those who are related to the Prophet (saws). Their lineage is honoured. Honour them so Allah (swt) honours you. Their station is high. It is a duty to praise them, honour their station, insha’Allah.“- al-Sayyid al-Sharif Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Qubrusi, October 14th 2012. SaltanatTV

Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan–Saudi Arabia Relations
Jordan – Saudi Arabia relations are the relations between the Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Jordan and Saudi Arabia are both Sunni monarchies. Jordan, along with Morocco, the only other non-Gulf monarchy in the Arab World, has been invited by Saudi initiative to join the Gulf Cooperation Council, an organization of Gulf Monarchies.
According to a 2013 Pew global opinion poll, 88% of Jordanians express a favourable view of Saudi Arabia, the most favourable opinion of the KSA in the Middle East.
The House of Saud share Adnan as a common ancestor with the Quraysh, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has generously shared billions of dollars in aid between the two Ahl al-Bayt monarchies of the Arab world; the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Morocco.
Their generosity is appreciated and will also be recorded in history as a part of their legacy.
