Recorded advice of Colonel Sayyid Mohammed Amiruddin (rah) to his grandson Hafidh al-Quran Sayyid Idrees Farid ud-Din from between 2005 on. Regarding the Mahdi, the Prophet (S) said to Hadrat Ali, “He is from us (Ahlul Bayt)- as Allah opened with us, so He will close, and with us they will be saved from polytheism. And with us Allah arbitrates between the hearts after open hostility as He arbitrates between their hearts after the hostility of polytheism.” Ali asked: “Are they believers or unbelievers?” He answered: “Some are on trial and others are unbelievers.”
Ibn Umar relates that Abu Bakr Siddiq said, “Honor (the most venerated Master) Muhammad by honoring the members of his family” (Bukhari).
Imam Nawawi, in his book Riyadh-us-Saleheen, in chapter 43 writes, ” … The Holy Prophet (pbuh) once addressed us at Khum…Listen O people…I shall leave behind two important things. The first, is the Holy Quran…The second thing, are the Ahle Bayt; members of my family. I call upon you in the Name of Allah to have due regard of my family members, and I once more urge upon you in the Name of Allah, about my family…Hazrat Hussain bin Sabrah asked; ‘Who are they?’ Hazrat Zayd ibn Arqam replied, ‘They are the descendents of Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Aqil, Hazrat Ja’far and Hazrat Abbas.”
“…It is stated in the Hadith: “I have left you with two weighty things, the Book of Allah and the people of my House.” This is the requirement of this Hadith, Those elders made great efforts in the beginning, so in future more is expected from them” (Malfozaat: Discourses of Moulana Ilyas Kandhlawi, discourse 58, p 42, Islamic Book Service, 2000).
